Reliable architectural lighting from a Russian manufacturer

A geometric luminous contour of the stained glass on the two sides of the façade and a shimmering “starry sky” along the entire building perimeter. The large-scale picture is made by use of monochrome linear MB-BAR-x lights and ML-M6RGB-FC-SF SMART-modules. The spectacular facility harmoniously matched a natural and urban landscape.

The total length of the linear lights was almost 100m. We used swing arms to attach them to the building frieze. As the aim was to highlight the contour rather than to increase the illumination area, non-lensed MB-BAR-х were used. To follow accurately smooth angular lines, we specially produced short-length lights.

Kinetic lighting of the shimmering “sky” created with five thousand DMX Smart-modules was controlled by a system of controllers with a high synchronization quality that produced a desired dynamic effect without loss or any mosaic structure of the image. The program was developed especially for the project. It allowed the customer to change easily the lighting design by himself.

The combination of contour and accent lighting not only decorated the building, but also created its unique architecture. The project combines lenticular and non-lenticular SMART-line lights, as well as reliable searchlights. The entrance space is lit with delicate SLIM-line lights.

SMART-line without lenses highlights outlines of the building sectors with cold white light. The same lights accentuate columns by giving light from bottom to top. The top of the façade is equipped with white lenticular SMART-line lights that create linear drawing and provide a directed light at the same time. The searchlights set off red-brown façade elements, making dynamics.

The side facade is rather calmer but no less visible; the SMART-line lights frame its elements impressivelyas well. The building backside with a stylish combination of contour and accent lighting is even neater.

In addition, ultra-fine SLIM-line lights showed their wide functionality: they took place in the entrance space, along the perimeter of the entrance roof overhangs. These waterproof lights both create a decorative effect of a fine line and provide main lighting.

The auto-dimmers control the hotel’s lighting scenario, adjusting the lighting level depending on the customer’s needs.

To create a dynamic design, we chose SMART-line lights with a cold, neutral and warm white emission colour. The equipment was fitted with LEDs of a new type (2835), which were equipped with lenses for directional dense and smooth illumination.

When installation work was in progress, the customer could assess immediately at site how efficient the equipment implemented the concept in his mind. The customer “tried on” different colour temperatures, choosing an illumination direction by use of lights versions with and without lenses, testing different SMART-line positions on the facade. As a result, the final effect was fully in line with the initial concept; it was an impressive flood lighting of the entire facade perimeter with plays of colours spreading from the central part to the edges of the building.
